Australia’s design community came together recently at Living Edge in Alexandria, Sydney to celebrate Knoll, one of the world’s most influential design brands. The event, Total Design – The Enduring Legacy of Knoll, explored Florence Knoll’s groundbreaking philosophy of ‘Total Design,’ which redefined modern interiors by integrating furniture, textiles and space planning into a cohesive vision.
A distinguished panel of design leaders shared their perspectives on Knoll’s influence and relevance in contemporary practice:
Moderated by Alice Blackwood, the discussion highlighted how Florence Knoll’s Total Design approach continues to shape design thinking across the workplace, residential and hospitality sectors. From pioneering corporate interiors in the post-war era to influencing today’s integrated environments, Knoll’s contribution remains foundational to the language of modern design.
“Knoll represents integrity, innovation and creating environments that endure,” says Aidan Mawhinney, CEO, Living Edge. “Those same values sit at the heart of Living Edge, which is why representing Knoll feels like such a natural alignment. Together we’re committed to bringing authentic, lasting design to the Australian market.”

By making the brand accessible through one of the country’s leading design destinations, we are strengthening Knoll’s position in the market and ensuring architects and designers can experience the full breadth of its portfolio firsthand.”
Hosted by Living Edge in partnership with Knoll, the event attracted architects, designers and industry leaders who experienced an evening of conversation, inspiration and connection surrounded by iconic Knoll pieces.
As Knoll continues to expand its presence in Australia, events such as this underscore its commitment to engaging the design community and reinforcing its role as a leader in modern, luxury design.
