Husband-and-wife duo, Nathan Bachli and Rebecca Pistilli launched BACHLI in 2022, aiming to enhance the furniture selection experience with support and advice that provides clarity and creativity, alongside a reliable and consistent service. Since then, and with a focus on highly-considered, enduring and functional designs, BACHLI has exclusively launched furnishings from international brands in Australia, including works by MDF Italia, Lowe Furniture, Nodi Rugs and Bloc Studios. Beyond bringing international names to Australia, at its core, “BACHLI is deeply committed to supporting Australian artists, makers, and designers. Visitors will discover a curated selection of locally crafted works, including Charlie White’s wall pieces, Marlo Lyda’s oversized sculptural lighting, and Agglomerati’s distinctive stone tables. These collaborations celebrate Australian creativity while fostering meaningful connections between local craftsmanship and global design,” Pistilli explains.

Bachli and Pistilli, with extensive experience in Australian furniture and design industries, collectively bring a wealth of knowledge across buying, curating, branding and project management alongside, of course, a serious passion for design. This expertise alongside their longstanding relationships with brands makes for a diverse range where purposefulness, innovation and a striking aesthetic are baked-in traits. “We seek out manufacturers who share our commitment to innovation, quality, and responsible production, creating pieces that are designed to perform beautifully over time rather than follow passing trends,” Bachli notes.

Recent additions to BACHLI include the family-run Passoni Design, which has specialised in Italian timber furnishings for over seventy years, while Saba Italia offers soft, contemporary forms and tossB brings Belgian lighting design with an architectural flair. Elevating residential and commercial spaces, BACHLI furnishings continue to influence the way work and home life unfold with ease and flexibility. 

Five of BACHLI’s most prized and popular pieces illustrate the timeless, functional standard at play. The Array Sofa by Snøhetta for MDF Italia, softly snaking with light, marshmallow-like forms knitted together, beckons rest. A modular design, it is easily reconfigurable with a version that also supports electronic devices. Saba Italia’s Pixel Sofa juxtaposes the precision of Italian craftsmanship within a relaxed form. Flexibly, its arm and backrests can be removed to accommodate smaller spaces and arrangements. Designed by Jean Nouvel for MDF Italia, the NVL Table embodies the strong lines and geometries of Nouvel’s architectural designs. It takes the trilith structural system where two vertical forms a seemingly light, horizontal top layer. Despite its strong design, it complements other styles of furnishing. Designed and crafted in Australia, Lowe Furniture’s Manhattan Table, a name that conjures a city’s silhouette with its solid legs gathering like skyscrapers, illustrates skilled Australian hands at work with premium, durable timber materiality. John Pawson’s Tacta Chair for Passoni Design is simple yet sculptural and brimming with character, as though a series of limbs wrap around to support the body that rests within it.
