A new property designed specifically for the business community has just arrived and the office has never looked or felt so good. The Cambium, on Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula, is certain to become the best alternate place to work where great design is a given.

The Mornington Peninsula is home to a plethora of fine vineyards, restaurants and holiday rentals for the traveller, however, with the launch of The Cambium, there is a place of sanctuary that has been designed specifically for those in the pursuit of business, and it ticks every box and then some.
Located on a four-acre property and bordered by 66 acres of the Ferntree Gully Endeavour National Reserve in Red Hill, The Cambium is at one with nature but also offers all creature comforts.
With 11 newly furnished suites, guests have the opportunity to conduct business in a location that will free the mind and offer more than just a change of scenery.
Sally and Damien Marasco, founders of this new concept of business away from the office, commissioned Carr to re-design the interior, and the studio brings its inimitable touch to the project.
The property is luxurious and contemporary but not overwhelming, with all amenities and facilities. The suites are the epitome of restrained elegance, and the floor-to-ceiling windows provide outstanding views of the lush landscape outside.
The colour palette is soft and minimal – think beige, white and muted timber hues – that combine to both relax and sustain. Materiality is authentic with timber floors, comfortable sofas and lounge chairs and timber tables with leather chairs.
The shell of the original building has been retained along with the best architectural features, such as bay windows and timber-clad gabled ceilings. Here, old meets new, and the aesthetic ensures a stay at The Cambium is both restful and re-invigorating.
“This property is a unique sanctuary, so close to the Melbourne CBD but offers the great escape. We wanted to provide businesses with the opportunity to experience this, find momentary respite from the traditional workplace, embrace the environment, explore and grow.” says co-founder Sally Marasco.
As a premium business venue, there are myriad spaces to encourage forward thinking, such as a boardroom, multipurpose hall, loft in the converted stables and a grand dining room with garden views and an adjoining courtyard.
Guests can walk in the landscape, sit around a fire pit or simply stay inside and enjoy the warmth from the stone-formed fireplace.
Black steel-rimmed windows strategically curated within the building allow the natural light to penetrate, but they also frame the vistas beyond the walls, and business becomes a pleasure in this cossetted atmosphere.
While most new hospitality venues cater to families or couples, The Cambium offers business groups an alternative to their own office or the ubiquitous convention centre.
It provides a place that can inspire the mind and refresh the spirit and help develop collaboration and creative thinking in another more natural world.
