German design powerhouse Wilkhahn has just moved into its new Sydney home – demonstrating that the brand continues to lead commercial design innovation.
Having just celebrated its 111th Year Anniversary, Wilkhahn – one of the international commercial furniture industry’s leading manufacturers and brands – is set to embark on a new chapter of inspiring collaborations with our local design community. To mark this significant milestone, Wilkhahn recently threw open the doors of its new Sydney showroom in the city’s bustling design precinct of Surry Hills.
As the backdrop to also unveil Wilkhahn‘s latest award-winning Aula stackable chair and mAx folding table, this new Sydney showroom makes a bold statement about the company’s pioneering exchange of ideas. For two decades, Wilkhahn Australian presence has been bolstered by the establishment of Wilkhahn Asia Pacific – the brand’s regional proprietary facility responsible for locally manufacturing Wilkhahn products that are initially developed in its German-based origins.
Today, as a consequence, 80 per cent of Wilkhahn product supplied to the Asian market is still manufactured in the brand’s Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters: state-of-the-art, purpose-built facilities in Riverwood. Allowing Wilkhahn to expand across Australia’s east coast, this centralised hub is not only shrewdly backed by the brand’s comprehensive design offering, but also supported by a high-powered team of sector specialists, steering managers, service and delivery arms that work around-the-clock to elevate the profile and performance of German design for Asia’s unique needs.
Collaborating with local creative talent throughout the region, Wilkhahn necessarily understands that ideas communication is fundamental to the future of design innovation. With this in mind, it is little wonder then that the brand’s new Surry Hills home is coloured by the desire to facilitate the exchange of insights and developments, while also offering the local design community a vital forum to connect and be inspired.
As Wilkhahn‘s wholly complete network of service centres throughout Asia Pacific continues to make strides in reducing lead times and increasing responsiveness to local markets, the brand looks forward to further expansion throughout the Pacific.
