Thanks to various factors – including population growth, the ongoing housing crisis, and environmental concerns associated with urban sprawl – Australia’s urban landscapes are changing. The country that was once best-known for its ubiquitous quarter-acre suburban blocks is now seeing more and more medium and high-density residential developments.
As we move to higher density living, it is important that the quality of housing delivered remains high. With demand for higher performing apartments, hotels and student accommodation growing, designers are under more pressure than ever to deliver efficient, compliant and acoustically comfortable spaces – without compromising on vision.
With this in mind, in this session of CPD Live, we focus on the real-world challenges of multi residential design. Our industry experts consider everything from navigating value management and balancing reverberation control to mixed use considerations and cost reduction strategies. They identify solutions that support better acoustic, structural and aesthetic outcomes; and outline the surest ways to ensure that projects of this type meet the highest performance standards.

Stepping into Intuit’s Sydney workplace certainly doesn’t feel like walking into an office. Why? In this film, we discover that, when joy takes precedence as a design driver, even a high-performing commercial CBD headquarters can feel like an intuitive wonderland that invites employees to choose their own adventure.
In the first instalment of our three-part series exploring what it means to sit your best, we pose the question to Gray Puksand’s Dale O’Brien, who discusses the importance of ease and majority rule when it comes to sitting and reveals why specifying a task chair is not unlike choosing a Volvo.
