As a talented, multi-award winning architect and designer, Rooshad Shroff has just established a new gallery in Mumbai that celebrates design at its very best.
A new gallery space has opened this month in Mumbai and is set to inspire and excite the local population in all things design. Rooshad Shroff has created this special destination to showcase his own product and furniture designs but also to foster creative and collaborative endeavours with fellow artists and designers. The gallery will, of course, present curated exhibitions along with limited edition pieces but will be a prominent and engaging space to display the multiple collections from the talented designer.

The venue self-titled as Rooshad Shroff is located in Horniman Circle, a beautiful Heritage area in South Mumbai. Shroff is in good company with distinguished neighbours such as the flagship Hermès store and the Christian Louboutin boutique but there is no doubt that the new gallery is certain to be a draw-card for a discerning clientele.
The space, located on the third floor, was designed to highlight the architectural detailing of the historic building in which it resides with arched elements from the façade introduced within the interior. The material palette of marble and light timber was chosen to complement the pale grey of the walls but this also provides the ideal background to the furniture and marble lighting that are the trademarks of the RooshadSHROFF collections.

Upon entry to the gallery there is a large space with high ceilings that provides the optimum setting for furniture and lighting. Set perpendicular to this, and with views of the outside garden and historic Asiatic Library, there is a linear chamber for exhibitions. At one end of the area is a conference room with an open plan office in the middle and a cabin at the rear and all areas are flooded with light. Shroff has incorporated mirrors into the design as cladding on the inside of all arched doorways that connect the gallery and office and this, in turn, ensures there is a visual extension to the space and abundant natural light.
Designing an area that is flexible and adaptable has guaranteed Shroff an ever-changing interior face to his gallery that both reflects his own aesthetic but also that of his future exhibitions.

Rooshad Shroff graduated from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design and has a Bachelor degree from Cornell University. He established his eponymous practice in Mumbai in 2011 with a focus on interior and architecture projects, products and installations. He is widely known throughout India and works overseas for select clients in London, Bangkok and Abu Dhabi. During the past seven years his practice has represented Hermès in India and he has designed the window displays and installations for the Mumbai and Delhi stores of which there are several annually. The Louboutin boutique was also his first retail project for the iconic brand and so situated between Hermès and Louboutin the gallery location is the perfect place to be among friends and clients.
The Rooshad Shroff gallery is certain to be a success, driven by this dynamic and talented designer, and it will certainly be the place to go and to relax and enjoy fine design when in Mumbai.
