Inside Shapes is a new concept in flooring – where a floor becomes a canvas for creative expression and the result is a dynamic interior landscape.
Today, more thought than ever is given today to how our environments not only function, but how they make us feel and behave. Design on all levels needs to serve in function to the betterment of our built spaces, and Shaw Contract knows this. The new carpet tile collection Inside Shapes has been launched in this philosophy; a flexible toolkit that inspires creativity.
In its first collaboration with Stockholm-based design studio, Form Us With Love, Shaw Contract has challenged how standard 24” x 24” carpet tiles might be approached. With Inside Shapes, a floor becomes a canvas for designer creative expression – unlimited shape and colour combinations are available, from the simple and straightforward, to the abstract and avant-garde. You’re given the designer opportunities to create the perfect solution for any environment.
The Inside Shapes collection is comprised of tile four shapes that can be combined to form a standard 24″ square tile. The shapes of the square, the curve, the point and the diagonal comprise the series. Countless shapes, colours and shades can be achieved with the collection, to create a variety of different spatial effects: from clear way-finding and zoning, to subtle changes of energy and mood, from areas for creative collaboration to places for quieter periods of concentration.
The collection sees a palette of twelve colours inspired from materials used in the built environment and the Swedish landscape. Each colour also comes in light and dark variations for added dimensional choices in design. The browns are derived from pine wood, blues from glass, the greys – steel and concrete, the reds – from a paint used on the exterior of wood buildings and the greens from the distinct marble from the quarries in Kolmården. With this palette, you can generate high or low contrast combinations and play with tonality.
Inside Shapes has two sets of products designed to be used together or independently. You can use individual shapes in specific colours to create a unique visual or you can use the pre-mixed styles to easily create dynamic installs with a single product. Experiment with the Impressions, or design your own unique floor via the new Inside Shapes Design Tool.
