Dreamtime Flooring, a 100 per cent Indigenous-owned business, has partnered with renowned carpet manufacturer Godfrey Hirst to launch the Here Before Collection.
July 2nd, 2024
The Here Before Collection features designs by artist Aunty Sam Walker-Wilson from BNYM Indigenous Designs, bringing the stories of Gunai Kurnai Country to life. Aunty Sam Walker-Wilson, a Yorta Yorta woman, has been sharing her stories through hand-crafted and painted pottery for over two decades. Now, her distinctive designs are translated into carpet, celebrating her heritage and artistry.
This partnership between Godfrey Hirst and Dreamtime Flooring is the first of its kind in the region. Dreamtime Flooring’s Managing Director, Joshua Haddock, sees this collaboration as a step forward in honoring First Nations culture through meaningful corporate engagement.

The Here Before Collection merges artistry with advanced technology, offering two innovative carpet products. First, Pattern Perfect™ provides ultimate design freedom with precise pattern and colour placement, multiple pile heights, pinpoint stitch accuracy, and custom tile and plank capability.
Then Designer Jet®, the first of its kind in the southern hemisphere, uses cutting-edge technology to create unique surface textures, an infinite array of colours and bespoke designs. This technique injects dye directly into the carpet, transforming any pattern, drawing or image into a flexible and creative solution.
The Here Before Collection includes three distinctive design ranges. Under The Scars, with Cracked Earth, which symbolises the land as a guide, sharing its wisdom through the earth’s scars; Earth’s Canvas then explores how the earth’s scars hold seasonal memories, teaching Indigenous people about the cycles of nature.

Stories Of Time, meanwhile, comprises Sacred Stories, depictions of traditional line work found in ancestral caves and paintings, and Against The Tide, which portrays the ocean’s impact on the coastline, telling its own story through nature’s history.

Above Water includes Sand Symbols as representations used by First Nations Australians for mapping Country, with lines and symbols drawn in the sand. Coastal Guardians symbolises the importance of balance and the connection to animals and the ocean, providing a sense of fulfilment.

The Collection is a testament to the power of collaboration, merging traditional Indigenous artistry with modern carpet manufacturing to create unique and meaningful designs.
