V-ZUG’s earthy, sumptuous Melbourne studio

V-ZUG opens its latest studio in Melbourne with a beautiful and locally specific space that has the wow factor in spades.

V-ZUG’s earthy, sumptuous Melbourne studio

At an exclusive February event, renowned Swiss home appliance designer and manufacturer V-ZUG launched its Melbourne studio to great acclaim.

Delicious canapés prepared by V-ZUG Ambassador and master chef Ian Curley were on offer, along with fine wines and cocktails, but it was the new space and range of products that wowed the crème de la crème of Melbourne’s architecture and design community on the evening.

Situated in the designer heartland of Richmond, the new location boasts 165 square metres of curated interior that celebrates the Australian landscape. Rich earthy textures and materials have been incorporated into the design that is the perfect backdrop to the comprehensive range of kitchen and laundry appliances on display.

The innovative studio has been created by V-ZUG’s Global Interior Art Director, Gabriel Castelló Pinyon, who is renowned for his extensive knowledge and experience across passive and circular design. Pinyon has been integral to the design and success of V-ZUG’s existing mono-brand studios in London, Paris, Milan, Vienna, Copenhagen, Munich, Hong Kong, Singapore and more recently V-ZUG’s first Australian studio in Sydney.

Pinyon says: “For the first time we have introduced colour into the studio while keeping to the minimalistic principles of other studios paying homage to the Australian outback. We wanted to showcase the unique aspects of the local environment around us through the overall colour palette of the studio and the interior.”

Also involved with the interior was Ross Gardam, one of Australia’s leading designers, who brought his own distinctive style to the project. The studio features beautifully curated lighting, as well as its furniture, including a custom-designed sofa, created specifically for the new studio space that honours the V-ZUG commitment to embracing local through both a design and sustainability lens.

The studio also includes homewares from The Front Room Gallery alongside additional pieces from DesignByThem and custom rugs from Rug Couture. The floor plan of the space has been cleverly designed, to create an internal and external cube, that allows V-ZUG to highlight three appliance finishes – black, pearl and platinum mirror glasses in their own spaces. The cube also delivers functionality with a hidden kitchen inside to provide the V-ZUG Gourmet Academy team with a place to prepare their cuisine for the regular guest dining experiences and events hosted in the space.

While this new V-ZUG studio is true to its brand, the Melbourne studio sits beautifully in its location blending the multitude of exemplary products within a local context. A visit to R7, 459 Church Street Richmond should be on everyone’s agenda to delight in a space that is elegant and sophisticated and encapsulates the V-ZUG experience to perfection.
