The 28th of September saw another Polytec Design Awards Night come and go for 2017, with Tasmania showing it’s a force to be reckoned with in the design industry.
The Polytec Design Awards brought together a host of Tasmania’s finest designers, architects, specifiers and design glitterati for a night of food, drinks and networking, alongside the announcement of who had won the three categories of the Design Awards; Residential; Commercial; and Hospitality & Retail. With so many projects submitted, there was some very stiff competition, so who took home the gold?
Residential – CBM Group’s Gable House in Riverside Tasmania utilised Manchester Thermolaminated doors in Black Matt, proving that the use of dark tones in the home can have a sophisticated and softening effect.
Commercial – S. Group’s office based in Launceston used Natural Oak Ravine Laminate & Edgetape on desks and panels, along with Black Wenge Ravine on desk tops and drawers. The use of laminate blends seamlessly with the use of real timber, making it almost impossible to tell the difference.
Hospitality & Retail – Hutchinson Builders used Char Oak Ravine in Ibis Styles’ lobby for Mr Good Guy‘s popular eatery in Hobart, designed by Conceptual KREAT (Singapore). The industrial style restaurant draws the eye, taking us to the street markets of South-East Asia.
Three great projects, three great uses of Polytec’s world-class decorative surfaces. As these awards nights continue, it’s clear that 2017 has been a stellar year for rewarding greta design, and we thank Polytect for recognising this.
