Launched by Knoll last week at NeoCon ’09 – the industry’s largest and most significant trade fair – in Chicago, the ‘Generation’ chair by Formway Design was up against some stiff competition.
The chair is a completely fresh take on Task Seating, employing what the manufacturers call ‘elastic design’, which uses advanced elastomer material – allowing a high level of flexibility for the user to move more freely while still offering support.
“Many common ways of sitting have previously been viewed as unconventional, even incorrect,” says Kent Parker, Lead Designer for the award-winning chair, “but they are in fact natural, subconscious human movements used to enhance comfort, communication and self expression.”
Incorporating recycled and sustainable materials the chair follows on from the successful LIFE chair and has already gained a Sustainable Platinum rating under the SMaRT© Sustainable Product Standard in the US.
The chair will be sold under the name ‘Be’ in Australia and NZ and will be available in September from Formway, with a select range of finishes differing from the US version. Find out more about the ’Be’ (Generation) here – sithowyouwant.com.
