Passionate about quality, creativity and lifestyle, ChristelH is a Sydney-based studio that specialises in the design and creation of furniture, lighting and conceptual design projects.
January 1st, 2014
Founded by Christel Hadiwibawa, ChristelH believe in creating designs that are simple yet practical, playful yet sophisticated, different yet engaging.
A sense of merging things together carries throughout the work of ChristelH, for example the marriage of eastern and western influences in the bamboo and concrete chairs. This curiosity about weaving what at first glance might appear disparate elements together extends to materials – as long as they compliment each other in both function and aesthetic – such as timber and metal.
The underlying design philosophy is a fusion between novelty and quality, which the studio describes as ‘playful sophistication’ – playful in terms of providing a sense of energy and character that invites people to engage and connect, and sophisticated in the terms of the materials and concepts implemented behind the design of each project.
ChristelH’s love of getting their hands dirty in order to understand material and process has produced a combined hand and machine fabrication. The unison of the two methods of manufacturing, mixed with ethical design principles, invites an endless array of beautiful and functional products that users can keep for a life time.
ChristelH embodies a lifestyle of quality and creativity.
