The famed live crits sessions began yesterday at the World Architecture Festival (WAF) 2013 in Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, with architecture firms presenting their shortlisted entries to panels of esteemed judges.

Winners from the first day have just been announced, with the Singapore Sports Hub by DP Architects and Arup Associates taking home the prize for ‘Best Future Projects Leisure-Led Development Building’.

The project is located on a 35-hectare waterfront and will provide a wide range of sporting, community, retail, recreational and leisure spaces within easy reach of the city centre and international airport.

In commending the project, the jury said: “Singapore Sports Hub exemplifies excellent planning vision, engineering, solutions and execution of diverse program elements. This new addition fits into the overall master plan and vision for Singapore and will be accessible to everyone.”
