Flexible open spaces, colourful furniture and themed gardens define SAP’s new location in Singapore.
May 20th, 2011
German company SAP recently consolidated its 3 existing premises in Singapore into a new 135,000 sqft office at Mapletree Business City.
HBO+EMTB, which has worked on other projects for SAP across the Asia Pacific region, has created a flexible and open workspace that is able to accommodate growth as well as improve future operational efficiencies.
A variety of alternative and collaborative work areas filled with colourful and eclectic furniture now encourage employees to work out of their desks, while existing meeting and team rooms can be converted into management rooms if required.
The themed colours and Asian-influenced design elements also serve as wayfinding on each floor.
Employee comfort is another significant consideration in the design. There are different themed gardens by the internal staircase on each floor while the top floor – which is not linked to the office by the internal staircase – features a bigger breakout area with a life-like garden complete with grassy carpet tiles, a tree, and a life-sized Magis Puppy named Frisbee.
A spacious games area is located on the 4th level, complete with Wii video gaming consoles, foosball and pool tables.
Sustainability is factored into the design with environmentally-friendly products and the project is currently being accessed under the Green Mark for Office Interiors scheme.
Housing approximately 1,000 SAP staff in Singapore, the new office is now used as the benchmark for SAP’s other facilities across the region.
