The Standard, Pattaya Na Jomtien: A coastal escape shaped by design

The Standard has announced its latest Southeast Asian destination: The Standard, Pattaya Na Jomtien – opening October 2025. Designed by DIN Studio and Studio Lupine, with Verena Haller from The Standard’s in-house team and architecture by Bangkok-based ONION, the resort brings a distinct design language to Thailand’s eastern seaboard. Landscape design by PLA weaves greenery through a network of immersive outdoor spaces.

The architectural concept draws on modernist forms, with Brutalist influences softened by playful curves and rhythmic verticals. The result is a sculptural environment that balances boldness with warmth. Interiors continue this sensibility, blending comfort with character, while each of the 161 rooms and suites is oriented towards either garden or sea views. Options range from streamlined king rooms to expansive private-pool suites and a 322-square-metre penthouse.

Public spaces integrate both local and international creative input. A courtyard installation by artist Chloé Kelly Miller, developed with MozART Advisory, presents a pair of hand-carved stone sculptures exploring duality and reunion. Uniforms designed by Thai fashion house Vickteerut add another layer of style, combining urban tailoring with coastal ease.

The resort also introduces Esmé – The Standard’s first beach club – combining a relaxed setting with a menu influenced by both Mexican and Thai flavours. Alongside this, Sereia, a coastal grill, will focus on Chonburi’s seafood traditions, with dishes prepared over live fire. Meanwhile, the adults-only rooftop venue will offer panoramic views, a bar, spa treatments and a hidden pool experience.

Design extends into leisure spaces. The pool deck features striped loungers, shaded pergolas and bougainvillea-draped structures encouraging barefoot relaxation. Surf Shack, a grab-and-go beachfront spot, draws on vintage surf culture with a casual atmosphere and quick, sun-soaked bites for those heading to the water.

Located in Na Jomtien, a quieter enclave just outside Pattaya, the resort aims to redefine the area’s design reputation. The location offers access to offshore islands such as Koh Kram and Koh Larn, along with opportunities for kitesurfing and water-based activities. Nearby cafés and cultural venues signal the neighbourhood’s growing identity as a creative coastal destination.

With its blend of architecture, art, fashion collaborations and food concepts, The Standard, Pattaya Na Jomtien presents itself as both a coastal escape and a new platform for contemporary design.
