From Copenhagen-based design studio GamFratesi comes the Silhouette Sofa series – an inviting collection characterised by an elegant curve featured in the sofa’s back.
Seamlessly combining the design of a strong character with the simple, organic expression of its curved back, the Silhouette Sofa series is a natural way of defining space and creating places for intimacy in both large and small areas, no matter the context.
The angular front view of the sofa is set off by the curved rear, appearing compact and economical with space, yet light and spacious – in effect offering generous seating. The family comprises sofas in different sizes and heights, available in High Backed and Low Backed variants, with legs available in metal or solid wood and a number of selected textiles to choose from.
The high-backed version of the Silhouette Sofa series offers the benefits of a traditional high-backed sofa – including things such as an enclosed sense of intimacy and atmosphere – while not striking an imposing presence thanks to its carefully considered height. Unlike many high-backed seating options with their 150 centimetres height, the Silhouette high-backed version is a polite 108 centimetres high, so it creates a lighter expression, and allows sitters a broader outlook. The slim legs lift the high-backed sofa elegantly from the floor, enabling the establishment of structured and private areas in open environments while remaining airy in appearance.
The gracefully curved back helps to achieve a sculptural effect so that when used in an office or in public spaces, the non-imposing nature of its design has it standing as an aesthetically pleasant yet functional piece when viewed from any angle.
The Low Backed Silhouette Sofa series features the same curve to its back and has an angular front view and defining piping details. The Low Backed Silhouette Sofa is available in Mono (one hero fabric used across the entirety of the sofa) and Duo versions. Unique to the Duo variant is the combination of two different textiles – one for the back, and one for the cushions and mattress. In both varieties, the strong structural language of the Low Backed Silhouette sofa make it a natural choice for defining space and creating intimacy in large and small areas in private and public contexts.
The Silhouette Sofa is available in Australia exclusively from Cult and HAY Australia.
