Sustainability Summit #8: Sustainability in transport design & assessing environmental impact

The Sustainability Awards and Summit are brought to you by Architecture & Design. For over a decade and a half, Architecture & Design has hosted the Sustainability Summit – a beacon of insight into sustainable practices, and this year promises to be no different as it once again takes centre stage, this time on an engaging virtual platform.

As Australia faces urban congestion, the upcoming panel titled “Sustainability in Transport Design & Assessing Environmental Impact” will explore the innovative approaches being adopted by designers and urban planners in transport design.

This discussion will highlight the crucial role of sustainable practices in transportation infrastructure for both environmental stewardship and urban liveability.

There is a growing focus on environmentally sustainable solutions in various transportation sectors, including railways, airports, harbours, and metro systems. Sustainable transport design aims to reduce environmental footprints while enhancing urban efficiency.

Key considerations include the selection of recycled materials and the integration of renewable energy sources, which help lower emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.

Jennifer Kent from UNSW, Neil Hill from Woods Bagot, Chris Collington from Cox and Craig Penton from SAS International Australia, our exceptional panel of experts will discuss this topic.

The 2024 Sustainability Summit will be held in Sydney on November 14.
