The Staron Design Awards provide a wide-reaching platform for designers across Australia and New Zealand to showcase their incorporation of Solid Surface within residential, commercial and creative environments.

Austaron Surfaces began in 2003 as a representative of one brand only: Staron Solid Surface. Since then, they have expanded to source other world-leading brands including Acrylic Couture, Mario Romano Walls and Kaynemaile Architectural Mesh– rebranding to become the globally renowned Austaron Surfaces. However, their initial brand still lies at the heart of Austaron Surfaces. The Staron Design Awards allow designers from across Australia and New Zealand to come together and celebrate the versatile application of Staron Solid Surfaces in built environments.
Staron is a well renowned global brand of Solid Surface manufactured by Lotte Chemical. Austaron Surfaces are known for transparency in their products and offer connection-based solutions – the high quality of Staron products allows for a large scope of project applications which can be tailored to individual preferences.
Every year the Staron Design Awards are open to Commercial and Residential projects, giving designers the opportunity to showcase their innovative applications of Staron products. To encourage creative fires, there is also an additional Concept category which aims to spotlight the imaginative use of solid surface beyond “real life” projects.
Edmond Massimini of MoMa Group won the Commercial category for a stunning office remodel. The sculpted Staron reception counter draws the eye with its bold detail and commitment to organic shape. The reception counter naturally curves around a nestled office space, guiding guests down an unfiltered path. The curved theme appears again in the boardroom, with a large custom table allowing individuals and groups alike to gather. Mimicking the free form curves found in nature, the reception counter and boardroom table complement the stunning green wall and deliver a calming atmosphere to this office fitout.
Congratulations to Lee Hardcastle from Enigma Interiors for success in the Residential category. This residential project embraced the quirky and eclectic personality of their client, with the new kitchen transforming to reflect the vibrant character of its owner. The oversized kitchen island provided the perfect opportunity for Staron products, with the goal to make the island stand out against the kitchen like a piece of artwork itself. A soft white finish settles the precise angles and alluring definition of the island, calming the space with a wash of luxurious elegance.
The “not yet realised” project by Emily Collins from Billy Blue College of Design was a fantastic hit at the Staron Design Awards, taking home a win for the concept category. This innovative kitchen benchtop and dining table project for a double story residential design in Blues Point Tower marks an exciting new era for Solid Surface design.
