Designed in collaboration with Glen Oliver Low, the ‘Think’ chair from Steelcase is more than your basic task chair; it’s the chair with a brain and a conscience. Able to adjust itself intuitively to the way you sit, offering superior comfort and ergonomics, ‘Think’ also thoughtfully measures and minimises its effect on the environment.
Working with McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC) to create ‘Think’, Steelcase have selected only materials considered environmentally safe.
The ‘Think’ chair, certified at Gold level, is the first product to receive Cradle to Cradle™ Product Certification from MBDC – which assesses products for human and environmental health impacts over their whole lifecycle from manufacture to its potential to be truly recycled or safely composted.
With eco-intelligent and Cogent:Connect fabrics, ‘Think’ is also the first-ever certified levelTM 3 product – the highest BIFMA e3 standard.
Steelcase takes lifecycle design seriously with ‘Think’; taking just five minutes to disassemble it is up to 98% recyclable by weight and contains up to 37% recycled content.
The chair also holds the NF Environmental Label in France, SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification for indoor air quality and can achieve maximum Green star rating.
All this just goes to show that with ‘Think’ ergonomics and the environment really can go hand in hand.’¨
