Luxury awaits 26 floors above China’s Liujiang River courtesy of Aedas Interiors.

When the lift doors open on the 26th floor of Liuzhou’s Radisson Blu hotel, guests glide through a dimly lit lift lobby, past abacus-inspired screens, and into a space that rivals the city view in terms of drama.
Daylight spills though a skylight and a beaded ‘canopy’. It washes over chandeliers, gently illuminates grand velvet curtains, and lands on a four-poster day bed with throw cushions in a central Bedouin setting. Wine display cabinets glisten either side.
Drama certainly unfolds. But this is just the lobby – a prelude to the restaurant and bar that lay beyond.
Hotel operator Carlson Rezidor invited Aedas Interiors to design a high-end restaurant and lounge bar for the 260-room Radisson Blu Liuzhou. Italian restaurant Scoozi and Twenty-Six Bar were to have a distinct look and feel within the overall hotel environment. Greg Farrell and Katie Yeung, Executive Director and Associate respectively at Aedas Interiors Hong Kong, designed dramatic spaces that shimmer with a sense of luxury.
Entrances on opposite sides of the atrium lobby space lead guests into the restaurant or bar. The colour palette for Scoozi was deliberately made light and bright to accentuate the fresh dining room setting. Natural light floods the bright and polished dining rooms of this lunch and dinner venue during the day. An intimate setting is encouraged at night via warm lighting.
Pale statuario marble flooring contrasts with distinct areas of dark timber. Glamour is expressed at all times with elements such as pictureless frames finished with gold leaf that hang over velvet curtain-lined walls. Select window ledges are referentially lined with wooden art frames.
Twenty-Six Bar offers a lounge experience with armchairs, plump booths and cushions. The palette is more varied, containing royal blue, striped carpet, dark timber and a back-lit onyx bar. Despite the clear shift in design direction, a shimmering effect (along with more gold-leaf art frames and complementary chairs) offers experiential consistency with Scoozi.
