As the only awards in the world dedicated to the design of food and beverage spaces, it’s not surprising that RABDA entries cover every location imaginable, from ships to airports, museums to burger vans, and from revered Michelin-starred establishments to hip joints and pop-ups.
This year’s annual awards received 840 submissions from the UK and 60 other countries, of which 190 have made the shortlist across 29 categories. Of note, three out of the eight finalists in the ‘International’ group, ‘Asia Bar’ category hail from Singapore. They include Sauce and The Green Door, both designed by The Stripe Collective, and Sopra, by AD Lab.

Judges this year included Thomas Heatherwick, founder of Heatherwick Studio, Claus Sendlinger, CEO & Founder of Design Hotels, Julia Peyton-Jones, Director of the Serpentine Gallery, and Loh Lik Peng, hotelier/restaurateur and Director of the Unlisted Collection, just to name a few.

The RABDA winners will be announced during the ceremony at London’s Old Truman Brewery on 25 September 2014, with organisers describing this year’s awards show as “an act of architectural theatre” complete with an eclectic food and drinks menu, and an interactive set.
