Schneider Electric’s new range are making bulky outlets a thing of the past with the new UNICA X collection.
January 20th, 2025
As the new year dawns, Schneider Electric is answering many a designer’s dreams with the launch of a premium new switches and sockets range that promises to make unsightly, bulky outlets a thing of the past. Gone are the days of switches that protrude from beautifully tiled walls and rich timber skirting boards, because this new range is sleek, sophisticated, and razor-thin.
Introducing UNICA X, the latest release from the leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, Schneider Electric. Designed especially for residential and hotel environments, the collection features stainless-steel switches and sockets that feature a slim profile of just 6.5mm. As designers and architects become more detail-oriented, the UNICA X offers new opportunities to elevate spaces, ensuring a spaces’ aesthetic is seamlessly carried through to even the smallest of fittings.
“As an Architect and Interior Designer, I am continually on the lookout for products that embody both style and substance. The Unica X range truly stands out with its modern design and exceptional handfeel. It effortlessly complements luxury applications, allowing me to create spaces that are not only visually stunning but also inviting to the touch.” says Xu Naiyan, Create Architecture.
The ultra-quality offering that this product portfolio brings to the market includes a sophisticated curvy design, inspired by the beauty of nature, with curated colors, materials and finishes.
While the slim profile helps to create a more seamless finish between surface and the fittings, five different colours and two finishes allow designers to blend sockets and switches in or make them a design statement. Colourways of brushed stainless steel, jet black, dark grey and dark bronze, and antique brass can be finished in either metallic, ceramic, and antique brush textures, creating a premium feel that matches the performance of the Schneider Electric range. CNC machining creates the resplendent metal trim, which reveals the beauty of the steel cases, while multiprocessing colouring technology ensures the finish is long-lasting.
Michael Lotfy Gierges, EVP of Home & Distribution at Schneider Electric, says: “The look, feel and materials used in the UNICA X range represent quality and has the reliability and reputation of Schneider Electric behind it, combining true innovation and exquisite workmanship. As a business, we are always looking to ensure our product range is updated to meet the ever-evolving needs of our customers and we proudly continue to be the leading player in the global marketplace.”
The range itself comprises switch and socket options, light dimmers, as well as night lights and USB chargers. In addition, options such as key cards, do not disturb switches, shaver sockets and international plug sockets are available for the hotel sector, providing a considered, comprehensive suite of products for ultimate cohesion. Every module within the range has been designed to meet IEC & BS standards, while the mechanical switches have been tested to withstand over 20,000 on/off operations and plug sockets can withstand over 18,000 insertions during its lifecycle.
The UNICA X range is launching into eight markets, with Gulf, KSA, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Thailand the first to access the premium range.
Whether in a sprawling villa in Thailand, a sleek apartment in Singapore, a five-star hotel in India, or anywhere in between, the UNICA X range ensures every space can be more beautiful and high-performing than ever before. With their slimline sockets and switches, Schneider Electric are giving designers the power to create a cohesive interior aesthetic, where even the smallest of details are playing a crucial role in how a room looks, feels, and functions.
