Launch Pad Asia: Recognising Emerging Talent

The national competition and mentorship programme for emerging industrial designers has launched in Singapore. It’s now time to submit your best work.

Launch Pad Asia: Recognising Emerging Talent

Since its inception in Australia in 2004, Launch Pad has been highly successful in nurturing and launching the careers of design talent across the country. Not just a design competition, Launch Pad is known for its unique mentorship programme whereby designers have the opportunity to be mentored by leading figures within the industry.

With the inaugural Launch Pad Asia having taken off in Singapore this month, designers here now have the chance to receive the same recognition for their work, and the same support and guidance from respected names in the design field.

In Australia, Launch Pad has already been responsible for helping to launch the careers of Charles Wilson, Nick Rennie, Ross Didier and many more, all of whom have found success not only locally, but on an international level.

This year’s Launch Pad competition in Australia received nearly 150 entries with the depth of talent making it a challenge for the judges to narrow down the top 15 Finalists. The Australian results have just been announced and Finalists include TED by Jye Edwards, Crescent Table Lamp by Lewis Yee,  Project A by Mark O’Ryan and Alar by Ben Nicholson. All the Finalists works will be exhibited at Melbourne Indesign on 22 and 23 August 2014.

A national competition for design in the categories of furniture, lighting or accessories. Deadline for submission is 9 July 2014.

The Launch Pad Finalists Exhibition. This will be held as a key feature of the upcoming Singapore Indesign event on 4 October 2014. The previously event in Singapore in 2012 attracted nearly 3,500 industry visitors over the course of one day.
