INSIDE World Festival of Interiors have announced the nominees that will go head-to-head in the annual competition to find the “World Interior of the Year”.

IDC Space by Singapore University of Technology and Design, Singapore – Display category

To be held once again at Singapore’s Marina Bay Sands, this year’s INSIDE consists of 60 shortlisted projects from 21 countries and across nine diverse categories, namely: Civic, Culture & Transport; Bars & Restaurants; Creative Re-use; Display; Health & Education; Hotels; Offices; Residential; and Retail.

Just Cavalli by OpenAir Studio, Thailand – Retail category

In the retail category, OpenAir Studio’s Just Cavalli concept store in Bangkok sees walls, shelving and installations created from rusted metal, in reflection of the brand’s identity.

Architect’s office at Kim Yam Road, by Park + Associates, Singapore – Offices and Creative Reuse category

A common theme of fee-flow work environments, employee interaction and break-out zones is seen across the office and education categories. The office of new tech company Sahibinden by Erginoğlu&Çalışlar Architecture in Turkey, for example, sees work and play combine with an open-plan office, running track and basketball court.

Re-use and redesign is also a recurring subject in this year’s submissions, going beyond entries in the category itself. There’s the new and improved design of the famous Christopher’s restaurant in Covent Garden, London by De Matos Ryan; the transformation of a bank basement by Joyce Wang into hip restaurant Mott32 in Hong Kong (see our feature here); and the Camper showroom in Shanghai, which sees Neri&Hu design a two-storey ‘house’ inside an old warehouse.
