Designed by Gray Puksand, Shaw Contract Group’s new collaborative showroom and design lab was unveiled very recently at Melbourne Indesign.
The Shaw Contract Group Design Lab is a collaborative showroom space where designers can experience all the flooring solutions from a global brand, but also a place to learn, connect and be inspired. All local designers are granted access to this creative space – giving them the opportunity to work with architects and designers in Melbourne to continue developing commercial interiors that will attract employees, students, visitors, and customers.
Unveiled officially at Melbourne Indesign, Shaw Contract’s new Design Lab encourages designers to experiment, innovate and challenge the boundaries of traditional carpet use.
“Made By Design” was a multi-sensory experience presented as part of the unveiling and as part of the The Project. Shaw Contract collaborated with the team at Gray Puksand to present an installation that explored the evolution of flooring from a traditional art form to a precise science. There were deconstructed elements, intricate webs of molecules created from carpet yarn that adorn structural forms.
