“We are delighted to have Eugene on board, complementing an already-strong lifestyle team. We are excited to harness Eugene’s residential expertise to assist our studio in tapping into Brisbane’s growing residential market,” says Woods Bagot Brisbane Studio Leader and Principal Mark Damant.
Eugene is passionate about innovative and exceptional design. He looks forward to collaborating with the team in Brisbane as well as across the firm’s global studios to advance design thought and practice at Woods Bagot.
“I am, equally, honoured and excited to take on this important role at one of the most significant global architecture practices in Australia,” says Eugene.
“I have an affinity for Woods Bagot’s innovative and rigorous design process, underpinned by academic and applied research – it is aligned with my approach to architecture, and I firmly believe it creates the best possible outcomes for our clients.”
For over 15 years Eugene has been involved in the architectural industry, primarily in the roles of project director, lead designer and project team leader. He has successfully designed and delivered a wide range of projects, including urban master plans, multi-residential developments and individual dwellings as well as healthcare projects.
Prior to joining Woods Bagot, Eugene held leadership positions at BVN Donovan Hill and Bates Smart, leading high-profile projects such as the Spring Street Development (CBUS and Centuria), Convesso Residential Development, Docklands (Lend Lease), Christchurch Health Precinct Master plan, and Dandenong Hospital Emergency Department and Mental Health Facility.
Eugene combines design-focused professional practice with ongoing involvement in academia through teaching and research where his academic work is focused on the innovation of architecture through application of emerging technologies in design practice.
Having won architectural awards and competitions in Australia, Asia, Europe and the US, including the Victorian Premier’s Design Award, Eugene has had work published both in Australia and internationally. His expertise was also recognised by The Age as one of Melbourne’s most promising young architects.
Eugene says: “The depth of talent and commitment at Woods Bagot is the perfect platform to expand on the diverse range of high quality design outcomes the firm has delivered to date. The ability of the practice to tackle projects of any type, scale and complexity, in any location across the globe, are unmatched in the Australian context, and that opens up a range of very exciting opportunities for our clients.”
