The month of September ushered in a string of significant career changes, including the appointment of a new Principal at Hayball, the rebranding of a well-established Melbourne practice, and more.

Foreground Architecture

In late September, at the opening of its Carlton premises, FMSA Architecture officially relaunched itself as Foreground Architecture.

At the same time, the practice also announced the appointment of several new Associate Directors and Associates, all promoted from within the practice – Senior Architects Daniel Coomber and James Kazalac have assumed leadership roles; Jessica Hyde becomes an Associate Director; Senior Architects Anna Morawiec and Brendan Pelham take on Associate positions and Nawar Kunda and David Fisher are promoted to Documentation Leads.

Hayball

Richard Weinman has been appointed Principal of Hayball, a national practice with a strong focus on culture, community and learning.

Bringing with him over 25 years of international and local architectural experience, Richard has been involved with – and led – an extensive and diverse range of projects.

His appointment signals the practice’s national expansion in the housing, commercial, industrial and tourism sectors, and bolsters its capacity to create environments that enable people and communities to thrive.

HDR

In a move that cements its commitment to sustainable business practices and underpins its future trajectory towards truly regenerative design, HDR has appointed Simon Dormer to the role of Sustainability Leader.

With a background in sustainability strategy, sustainable design, emissions reporting and stakeholder engagement, Simon will be responsible for leading sustainable design across the business and mentoring and coaching design teams to drive towards a sustainable design culture.

John Wardle Architects

Signalling its continuing growth and evolution, John Wardle Architects has appointed Jasmin Williamson as its first partner outside Melbourne.

Williamson’s appointment headlines a series of promotions, including Luke Jarvis and Emily Kilvington as Principals; Tine Van de Wiele and Tom Denham as new Associates; and Kristina as Senior Design Architect.

Commenting on Jasmin’s appointment, Partner Meaghan Dwyer said, “Jasmin’s experience and expertise are tremendous assets. She infuses great enthusiasm and optimism through our Sydney studio and leads with an emphatic sense of curiosity. Matthews Architects
South Australian architectural and interior design firm Matthews Architects has welcomed Claire Perperidis to its ranks as a new Project Leader.

With 19 years of national and international experience, Claire has a track record of successfully leading complex projects across the education, commercial, health, care and residential sectors.

In her new role, she will be responsible for running a variety of projects from initial evaluation and feasibility studies through to detailed design, contract administration and construction, working closely with clients, consultants, and contractors.

Plus Architecture

Plus Architecture has announced several promotions and appointments, including that of Candice Ng to the position of Principal. In this new role, among other things, she will be responsible for driving business development at the practice’s Melbourne studio.

In addition to Candice’s promotion, Jonathan Ng has been promoted to Senior Associate, while Kim Ling, Nicholas Putrasia and Giordana Vizzari have all been named as Associates.

Tilt Industrial Design

NSW-based industrial design studio, Tilt Industrial Design is expanding its reach into Victoria and its investment in the public arts sector with the new appointment of Laura Clauscen as Curator and Design Manager.

Bringing with her nine years’ experience working as a creative consultant across the applied and public arts sectors, Laura will be charged with helping Tilt to diversify its offering across architecture, landscape architecture and public art within a new and competitive market.

Warren and Mahoney

Warren and Mahoney has welcomed Petra Bonamy to its Sydney studio as its new Senior Associate and Workplace Specialist.

Petra, who spent the last eight years at Woods Bagot, has two decades of experience specialising in workplace design and strategy. Over these years, she has led some of Australia’s best-recognised workplace projects, including high-profile work for brands such as NAB, Property NSW and Macquarie Bank.

“Warren and Mahoney are true experts in workplace design and there is broad variety in their portfolio. I’m particularly drawn to workplace design and strategy, and I’m motivated by how good design can entirely revitalise how people experience a space,” commented Petra.
