The American Standard Design Award 2022 is a chance for aspiring design talents across Asia-Pacific to showcase their potential by addressing real-world design challenges.
American Standard, a leader in innovative technologies and award-winning designs for bathroom and kitchen products, has announced the launch of the American Standard Design Award (ASDA) 2022.
The ASDA provides an opportunity for students in the region to showcase their design skill and ingenuity while promoting the user-centric mindset that guides American Standard in delivering dependable bathroom solutions that combine thoughtful design and innovative technologies.

Embracing the concept of purposeful design, the ASDA is a bathroom design competition that focuses on enhancing hygiene standards while providing solutions to the ever-changing needs of consumers – from space maximisation to comfort and convenience. Under this year’s overarching theme “Purposeful Design – Transforming the Way We Live”, the competition is structured into two categories that reflect emerging lifestyle trends of urbanisation and health and wellbeing:
To qualify for the award, students must submit designs for bathroom spaces that not only feature inviting aesthetics, but incorporate functionality that fulfils the user’s needs. Designs should also demonstrate feasibility and originality.

The ASDA was born out of American Standard’s brand philosophy of designing innovative and purposeful bathroom designs. Not only does the competition provide an opportunity for budding designers of the future to showcase their creativity and innovation, but it also creates a platform for the design community to collaborate, push boundaries, and create solutions that meet the needs of an ever-evolving world.
The ASDA 2022 is open to Year 2 tertiary design students from eight countries across the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region – Australia, Cambodia, India, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam. Submissions are open from September 2021 and will close in March 2022 with the announcement of the regional ASDA winners.
Submitted entries will be judged at two levels: National and APAC. At the National level, a national judging panel made up of local architecture and design luminaries from each country will evaluate entries received from local participants. First prize winners for each category from each country will then be evaluated by the regional judging panel to be awarded the APAC Grand Prize.
The ASDA continues American Standard’s over 140-year legacy of innovation, style, quality, and reliability in bathroom design. American Standard is part of the LIXIL global family, which also includes world-leading brands GROHE, INAX and TOSTEM.
