Design Take Over: Richmond

While it’s often filled with young city dwellers, Richmond is no new kid on the design block. There was a whole lot happening here during MID – a truly rich design experience.

Design Take Over: Richmond

There was a lot to take in within the Richmond design precinct at MID this year. Including a host of seminars on Friday, showrooms within walking distance featured fun events on Saturday. And for punters not so keen to hit the pavement,  Signature Flooring‘s trusty tuk tuk was a quick and quirky way to navigate Richmond’s laneways.

A Mad Hatter’s Tea Party took over the Arthur G showroom (Cheshire Cat cake included), as part of their collaboration with Molecule for The Project. The entire look was been inspired by the Radford Cristian Lacroix, Liberty of London and Cole & Son ranges of upholstery and wallpaper.

On Saturday, Cult showed off the stunning new Palissade range for HAY, in an inspired and perfectly matched garden setting within the Glasshaus warehouse, with a cool DJ, garden style cocktails and HAY loot. Ceredomus Tile Studio offered cappuccinos and Pana Chocolate while showing off their new Quantum Six Plus Porcelain Slabs and the Eco Stone Porcelain Pavers.

Urban Edge Ceramics hosted a fantastic talk on fame within A+D, while showcasing installations of the latest and iconic works of the following designers: Patricia Urquiola, Edward Barber & Jay Osgerb, Konstantin Grcic, Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec.

Other open showrooms on the MID map included Artedomus, which featured the dynamic Sky Tips installation designed by Thomas Coward Studio for MAXIMUM technical porcelain panels, as part of The Project. There were also new product ranges on show at Atlas Concord Ceramiche, and CDK Stone.

See what went down in the CBD here, and Collingwood here.
