Dance for Life, the architect dance contest, has returned to once again raise money to support teens and youths suffering from depression.
Mental health is an issue that concerns all Australians, whether directly or through someone you know. 1 in 4 young Australians live with a mental illness and in an average year-12 classroom; 7 will have a mental health difficulty – but only 2 will have sought help and at least 1 will have attempted suicide. 75% of mental illness begins before 25 years. Dance for Life is a chance for the architecture and design communities to give back, and help this nation wide plight.
Dance for life is an annual event, developed by Thinking Works and Business Interiors. The focus of the event is creating an entertaining and fun night out for specifying Architects and Interior Designers, while also raising awareness and much needed funds for Reach Out, an organisation that works to assist teens and youths suffering from suicide and depression.
Launching now in preparation for a March 2017 dance off, ten teams of designers have signed up and are starting to work on their dance moves. The venue has been booked and Reach Out is back on board for what will be the one of the most energetic and exciting nights on the design calendar.
The theme this year is Icons of Music and Hassell, Woods Bagot, Cox Architecture, BVN, The Bold Collective, Siren Design, Group GSA, Geyer, Code Design / Custance and WMK Architecture will be vying for your votes!
These teams will be bravely getting up to dance in front of over 700 industry peers in March so please give generously to support them and ReachOut.
