How do humans interact with water? Enjoy it? Better conserve it? How can digitisation improve the experience? GROHE shows how by crafting luxury water experiences at two prestigious projects in Asia.
“How do humans interact with water? Enjoy it? Better conserve it? How can digitisation improve the experience? We consider these questions to be at the heart of our business,” says the CEO of GROHE AG, Michael Rauterkraus. For GROHE, the last few years have been marked by huge leaps, one after another.
When it was announced in 2013 that the leading German brand was joining the family of Japanese bathroom conglomerate LIXIL, the world wondered what the impact on the world of bathroom and water technology would be. Five years into the merger, there’s plenty to show.
From the launching of new products, facilities and innovations to new initiatives and the completion of prestigious projects around the world, GROHE remains at the forefront of progress. Last year the company launched GROHE Sense and Sense Guard, which comprise an entirely new product category that uses digital technology to enable homeowners to monitor function and switch off water supply remotely. Comments Rauterkraus, “We see ‘digitising’ water as a huge leap forward for consumer confidence and conservation of this precious resource.”
Hats off to GROHE for managing to conserve water while actually enhancing the water experience offered by its extensive line of products. Many of these products are now installed in high-end projects designed by some of the most progressive names in the design industry.
Take for example the Vittorio condominium and La Vela Resort in Thailand. Located in a prime spot at the heart of Bangkok’s luxury shopping district EM, Vittorio is a 28-storey ultra-luxury condominium by Thai luxury property developer AP Thailand.
The tower comprises 88 fully furnished apartment units designed by interior design firm Design Worldwide Partnership (DWP). Vittorio borrows its aesthetic from the Gallery Uffizi in Florence, one of the most opulently decorated and most-visited art museums in Italy. Just as Gallery Uffizi houses priceless artworks by the likes of Michelangelo, Botticelli and Da Vinci, Vittorio houses artworks by some of the most sought-after Thai artists.

Rounding off the project’s luxury offerings are a curated suite of furniture, finishes and fixtures. Proudly present the bathroom is the floor-mounted GROHE Allure Brilliant single-lever bath mixer, standing over the free-standing bathtub; while on the wall is the Euphoria Cube+ hand shower, both crafting a rich water experience to match its setting.

The bathroom at La Vela Resort
Located on serene Bang Niang Beach in Phang Nga Province, the La Vela resort is a 181-room wellness oasis designed by local firms Time Architecture and TROP. The resort offers six Pool-Access Grand Apartments, each with a private outdoor whirlpool bath and direct access to the pool.
