Camira have created fabrics of intoxicating natural beauty. A heady mix of nature’s cleverest renewables, Hemp and wool have been blended together to create fabrics with unique performance, appearance and environmental properties.
March 1st, 2014
Hemp is a rapidly growing base fibre that’s been used in a multitude of products for thousands of years. Camira’s hemp plants have been grown as an agricultural crop under licence from the UK Government on farms in Leicestershire, blended with pure new wool and spun into a 60-40 wool hemp yarn.
The fabric has then been woven into a classic plain weave fabric with character, and a fantastic, fun, large scale check that co-ordinates beautifully. When piecedyed, only the wool portion becomes coloured, bringing out the raw beauty of the natural Hemp.
The entire colour palette is naturally inspired with a good mix of soft neutrals and earthy tones found in the colourful British farmland.
