Covering around 90 hectares, the Plantation District in Tengah by HDB in will be green, smart and revolve around community farming.
September 24th, 2018
HDB has unveiled its master plan for Tengah, its twenty-fourth and newest town. Covering a land area of 700 hectares, about the size of Bishan town, it will provide an estimated 42,000 new homes when fully developed.
Five unique housing districts will be developed in Tengah progressively, namely Plantation, Park, Garden, Brickland and Forest Hill. And in keeping with the vision to develop Tengah as a ‘Forest Town’, each of these districts will be designed with community and nature in mind, so that residents can experience quality living with nature and greenery at their doorstep.
Plantation will be the first district to be developed. Launching in November 2018, it will cover an area of 90 hectares, approximately the size of Bidadari, and could see about 10,000 new homes when completed.
Plantation district will be green, sustainable and smart, with four key ideas driving its development:
Bringing about a new lifestyle and community that centres around community farming.
Embracing an active and healthy lifestyle by promoting walking, cycling, and the use of public transport.
Creating homes set amidst nature, where greenery and water features intertwine seamlessly with housing, guided by the Biophilic Town Framework.
Harnessing science and technology to create a more liveable, efficient, sustainable and safe living environment for residents.
The first housing parcel in Plantation District is expected to comprise more than 1,500 flats, ranging from 2-room Flexi flats to 3-Gen flats. Interested buyers can apply for these flats in the November 2018 Build-to-Order exercise.
Plans for the Tengah Plantation District is currently being exhibited at HDB Hub, 9am to 8pm daily.
