Steelcase’s Navi TeamIsland provides for the wellbeing of people while responding to the challenges faced by rapidly-evolving organisations.

Steelcase believes that people are an employer’s greatest asset and the places where people work will impact how they feel and act. In a rapidly expanding company, the focus and dedication of employees are exceptionally vital. Yet managing a changing office is tough and often done at the expense of worker wellbeing.
In response to that, Steelcase has developed the Navi TeamIsland. Thanks to an extensive study into what matters to employees at work, Navi TeamIsland integrates thoughtful design details, user-centric functionality and flexible configurations into the workplace.
With Navi TeamIsland, organisations can undergo dramatic changes without having to worry about issues pertaining to furniture wastage, real estate constraints, employee comfort, wellness or productivity. Navi TeamIsland was conceived to help companies stay agile and innovative while growing.
Comprising multiple components, Navi TeamIsland enhances the performance and wellbeing of people at work. For one, standing height and traditional desks can be implemented with a range of layout and leg options to maximise the office area without comprising on individual space.
For standing desks, the HighSit bench allows employees to alternate their postures all day to prevent detrimental health effects. A raised, carpeted foot platform provides further ergonomic support and comfort, not unlike the feeling of being seated at regular desk height.
Navi TeamIsland also comes with storage legs that enable employees to store their personal items privately, creating a sense of belonging and personalisation. A space on top of the storage leg next to the desk has been thoughtfully created for employees to place their bags for easy reach throughout the day. For smaller offices, the storage legs can be removed to maximise headcount.
A small recess on the desk allows employees to dock technological devices for hands-free usage. It also doubles up as storage for small items such as earphones, keys or thumb drives, preventing clutter on the main working area.
For team meetings or brainstorming sessions, collaborative stations with digital content sharing capabilities can be integrated at the end of the workstation. If that takes up too much space, a smaller podium can be added on in between tables to support impromptu discussions between smaller groups of two, or serve as a touchdown space for shift changes. The podium also acts as a lightweight space divider that allows for more storage in dense environments.
With Navi TeamIsland, companies are able to grow over time while staying agile and innovative as the flexible system can be expanded to adapt to the milestones of every organisation. There are also different surface materials and colours to choose from, enabling every organisation to impart their own identity to the series.
