March 23rd, 2018
From 7 March to 1 April 2018, Grafunkt at Millenia Walk has transformed into the House of Grafunkt – a place for appreciating a life that is real and rooted, a place where friends can express their creativity.
The Grafunkt team planned a calendar of events and activations, which kicked off in a big way with a housewarming evening on 15 March. Grafunkt’s co-founders Jefery Kurniadidjaja and Nathan Yong hosted guests MUT Design Studio from Spain and Raphael Gielgen (Head of Research and Trendscouting at Vitra) to present talks.
The MUT team focused on their work with Sancal, while Gielgen discussed ‘The Art of Constantly Reinventing the Personal Future’. He gave a grand tour through a variety of disruptors to how we work, and suggested that adaptation is the new reality. The evening also featured music performances, film screenings, and special food and product installations, and subsequent dates saw additional performances and a Grafunkt Conversation about ‘bad design’ with local design figures.
And downstairs in the Great Hall of Millenia Walk, Vitra has installed a fascinating travelling exhibition of some of its key products titled The Original Comes From Vitra. The exhibition consists of freestanding wooden boxes combined with textile panels and lighting to create modular exhibition structures of various sizes. Each box is dedicated to a Vitra original product, providing details on its background and special characteristics. The exhibition closes on 1 April.
