Singapore Indesign Intimate: The Project 2015

In anticipation of this year’s The Project for Singapore Indesign Intimate, we ask participating teams to provide a sneak preview of the installations they have created, based on the theme, ‘Balance.’

The Project is a collaborative programme that pairs up Exhibitors with architects, designers, artists and other creative studios for the creation of installations that stir and instigate viewers to contemplate a product beyond its conventional function. The five participating teams for this year’s programme were challenged to consider the theme, ‘Balance’.

We asked them, “how can we find harmony amid the complexities and myriad possibilities that present themselves to us? How do we weigh up all the forces in our lives, and indeed, in the design industry? How do we calibrate our personal and professional interests with the interests of others? How can we find the middle ground in a complex world?”

As the installations are being put together for the showcase in both Singapore Indesign Intimate 2015 venues (Red Dot Design Museum and the National Design Centre), participating teams provide us with an exclusive preview of what to expect.

‘Balancing Birds’, created from anti-bacterial laminates flock over a forest of frosted acrylic trees brought to life by Greenlam and WOW Architects. The installation highlights the partners’ shared ethos of ecological living and building.

ADMIRA with Architology

ADMIRA has partnered with Architology to create Flexile. Meaning flexible, adaptable and tractable, the installation explores the relationship between structure and skin to enable the observation of High Pressure Laminates as a flexible skin for adaption to various structures.

Visitors can slow down and engage their senses with the aroma and therapeutic pitter-patter of cold drip coffee in this installation by Alustil and PLUS Collaboratives. Four cold drip coffee brewers will rain droplets of caffeine on aluminium and wood surfaces.
