The commercial furniture experts at ownworld have a new way to present their terrific range of furniture, lighting and accessories. Presenting the Sample Library.
The Sample Library is a new concept for presenting ownworld’s vast portfolio of furniture samples in one place. In the upcoming Sydney suburb of Rosebery, the ownworld Sample Library will redefine how designers, architects, specifiers and design lovers interact with the brand.
“The idea of running a furniture Library was triggered by the fact that we can’t showcase even a quarter of our samples within the floorspace available at our Sydney and Melbourne showrooms,” explains one of ownworld’s Founders, Peter Beikmanis. “Our samples are rotated through the offices of architects, designers & end-user clients on a regular basis. They need to be kept in pristine condition and be clearly visible so that our Sales Consultants stay refreshed with the vast selection of furniture options we have available for trial and viewing.
“These samples are integral to our business. They are regularly in line-ups for commercial projects and in design offices for presentations. They deserve to be housed and showcased well”, says Beikmanis.

The ownworld Sample Library is a 350 square meter space that also doubles as the company’s operations hub, where the supply chain and admin team work. ownworld’s Supply Chain Manager Gemma Eastwood shares that “we enjoy working amongst our samples. Being visually connected to them means we’re continually reminded of our broad workplace, hospitality, Senior Living and residential offering.
“The space is run much like a traditional Library. Each article is coded so that when our Sales Consultants rotate through the product, we check them in and out as you would in an old-school book library. Everything’s categorised by brand and product type. It’s super organised and with its massive windows out to Morley & Dunning Avenues, it’s a very vibrant and positive space to work in.
“We’re not obsessed with visual perfection in Rosebery – our showrooms in Darlinghurst and Collingwood are far more curated. This is an active working space where you’ll commonly see rolls of fabric lined up at the door ready to ship, or a batch of small components in queue for assembly in our on-site workshop.”

Being located in such a public position – right across the road from the fashionable ‘Cannery’ dining and retail development has created a lot of curiosity about what this new space “means”. Its neat racks of furniture to ceiling height line the majority of the floorspace, so it’s clear that it’s neither a traditional showroom nor an office.
“The majority of passers-by are heard commenting about what a fancy warehouse it is,” says Peter Beikmanis “Our Sample Library serves as a space of inspiration. Our clients are welcome to book a visit via their ownworld Sales Consultant to simply walk the aisles and see what captures their attention – what articles are fit for purpose and suited to the intended application within their project. We are proud of our new Sample Library and believe it’s the first of its kind in Australia”.

The new ownworld Sample Library is located at 33 Morley Avenue, Rosebery. If you’re interested in checking out the huge collection there, reach out to ownworld, they’d love to show you through!

Aeron Chair’s new shades, Nightfall and Jasper, arrive with a sense of quiet cohesion – no bells and whistles, no loud technicolour; just two timeless, perfectly versatile near-neutrals. But the new hues aren’t just about colour – and their significance is much more profound than their surface-level subtlety might suggest.
