This vibrant new series of textiles draws on the concept of motion and movement
August 2nd, 2012
As its name suggests, the Kinetic collection is inspired by energy generated through motion. The collaboration between US Textile Designer Lori Roop and the Instyle Design Studio is a combination of large, medium and small scale designs that come together to present a strong colour coordinated package for use on upholstery and screens in a wide range of contract applications.
Each design is woven in fine quality Jacquard with a play of matte and sheen, a result of using different yarn types such as worsted wool, mercerized cotton and spun polyester. Colours span a spectrum, from neutrals through to vibrant reds, burnt orange and fresh greens.
Bounce
Bounce is a key design in the Kinetic collection with a complex colour pattern and distinct oval motif echoing the repetitive motion of a bouncing ball.
Active
Active picks up on the ’white noise’ background of Bounce as a 2 colour coordinate and is reminiscent of TV static with its multi-directional energy.
Circuit
Circuit hints towards a code or language with a link to the layout of electrical circuit boards. A zap of current in the form of coloured highlight yarns give a look of sophisticated clarity underlining each section of barcodes in a random formation.
Stride
Stride also hints towards a code or language with strong bands of coloured energy. It is the most textured design in the Kinetic collection offering additional surface dimension with the play of thick and thin yarns.
