The Sydney Theatre Company presents a play exploring the complexities of memorial architecture.
July 16th, 2010
From the Friday 16 July until Saturday 7 August the Sydney Theatre Company and the Griffin Theatre Company will be presenting Anthony Wiegh’s Like A Fishbone.
In a rural community a tragic crime has been perpetrated and a successful architect is called upon to present plans for a memorial to commemorate the victims.
Directed by Tim Maddock, Like a Fishbone explores the divide between the religious and the secular in memorial architecture.
Anthony Weigh’s Like A Fishbone is set against a backdrop of public memory and commemoration, issues that never fail to arouse debate.
To celebrate this union of architectural theory and theatre, the Griffin Theatre Company is hosting an architectural and memorial forum featuring three key speakers on the subject.
Brian Zulaikha of Tonkin Zulaikha Greer and NSW President of the AIA, Dr Russel Rodrigo, Program Director of Interior Architecture at UNSW and Tim Maddock, director of Like A Fishbone, will lead the discussion after the performance on Thursday 29 July.
