Cotton Duck looked to Café Culture when creating the fit-out for the ’subtly elegant’ Surry Hills eatery.
February 28th, 2011
Formerly a warehouse and now a stunning new restaurant from Danks St Depot chef and restaurateur Jared Ingersoll, Cotton Duck’s décor is as elegant and appealing as its menu.
“We pay attention to things like space, by choosing bigger tables and less seating, so you don’t feel ‘sardined’ in,” explains Ingersoll.
Designer Suzanna Esdaile, of EDAA, wanted a “raw, gusty and honest urban interior.”
Timber tables and ’White Bistro’ chairs were used, the tables complementing the recycled timber of the bar and the white adding a crisp, classic element to the space.
Furniture was sourced through Café Culture.
“Café Culture was great to deal with when sourcing furniture,” Esdaile enthuses.
“Things just happened! The ability to loan chairs while we waited for the ‘White Bistro’ to arrive (we knew they would not make the opening date before we placed the order) allowed us to order the chairs we wanted, and not be without in between.”
