Melbourne Indesign 2016 is proud to present the launch by Cult Design together with HAY of the new Palissade Collection. Guaranteed to bring style and comfort to our outdoor lifestyle, you do not want to miss their exciting installation.
Collaborations and partnerships are the foundation of so many touchstone moments in the history of design. Bringing those touches of unforeseen brilliance or instances of surprising virtuosity, the meeting of designers and design houses across the globe has truly transformed the landscape of the international A+D community.
This is why we are so excited to present the partnership of Cult Design together with HAY for Melbourne Indesign 2016. Following the inaugural opening of the HAY flagship in Sydney’s Surry Hills, Cult launches the new Palissade collection designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for HAY with a blossoming and verdant installation at MID16.
Palissade is a thirteen-piece collection of outdoor furnishings designed to accommodate an enormous array of potential environments: outdoor residential spaces such as terraces, gardens and balconies; or commercial spaces such as restaurants, cafes and public areas. Drawing inspiration from our Parisian coffee-swilling flâneurs, the whole suite is a visual narrative of simplified, softened line, shape echoing shape, and seamlessly undulating bowing and arcs. With the comfy-factor first and foremost, its tonal scheme of light greys, anthracite and muted olive effortlessly incorporates the pieces in either the most urban or most natural of environments.
In conjunction with MID16, on Saturday 13 August, Cult and HAY present their Palissade installation hosted at Glasshaus – a boutique nursery in the heart of one of Australia’s most moving heritage buildings. The Palissade Tearoom is a pop-up concept café presented with the assistance of design mavericks We Are Triibe and the culinary experts behind The Rabbit Hole. Exploring the intersections between botany, design and the quintessentially outdoor Australian way of life, the Palissade installation will run from 10am to 5pm.
But Sydneysiders needn’t worry because with HAY recently having taken the city by storm, Cult is also proud to present the Palissade Tearoom within a heritage terrace just outside of the CBD in Chippendale. The Sydney leg of the launch will be running for a fortnight and features a mouthwatering menu designed in collaboration with The Rabbit Hole. Think: edible florals, reinvented teatime favourites, and all the cosy organic flavours of Australia’s sub-tropical climate.
With local styling geniuses at We Are Triibe decking the Palissade Tearoom out with typical Australian flair, expect an olfactory-overload of native flora.
