March 25th, 2011
Nick was a respected and awarded member of the profession who, with his partner Rachel, won 2 Wilkinson Awards for residential architecture for their Whale Beach House and Five Dock House – the first house in Sydney’s west or inner west to receive the honour.

In a message sent to Australian Institute of Architects members last Friday, National President Elect Brian Zulaikha described Murcutt as a “very active and passionate supporter of the Institute and the profession, as well as being a very talented designer.”
Murcutt’s service was held on Monday 21 March in Sydney’s Elizabeth Bay. In lieu of flowers, the family asked for contributions to be made to the Alice and Otto Trust, set up for Murcutt’s children by some of his closest colleagues.
