One young designer brings her talents to Melbourne.
October 1st, 2008
Having spent four years managing her fathers’ furniture and interior design company Coote & Co. in Ireland, Charlotte Coote developed a passion for design after being surrounded by “beautifully made and timeless furniture”.
Charlotte, whose inspiration includes the late David Hicks and his geometric and pop-inspired prints, Eileen Gray and her Art Deco furniture and her father John Coote, decided to throw her hat in the ring and moved back to Australia to open her own design company.
Charlotte Coote Melbourne, which opened in 2007, introduces a furniture collection inspired by this passion, capturing the essence of Australian lifestyle through raw and earthy designs.
From peat buckets to dining chairs and day beds, Charlotte describes her pieces as “attractive with a bit of character” complementing the relaxed Australian lifestyle.
