This July, an exhibition of 100 rarely seen images from the Eames family collection, will be on display in the Living Edge Richmond Showroom as part of the Melbourne International Design Festival.
June 18th, 2008
Charles and Ray Eames are arguably the most important American designers of the modern era and are best known for their groundbreaking contributions to furniture design, architecture, industrial design and manufacture.
The exhibition is published by the Eames Office and commissioned by Herman Miller to celebrate the 100th year of the birth of Charles Eames. This exhibition represents the first time Charles Eames’ photography has been truly celebrated in its own right.
The exhibition consists of 100 rarely seen images from the Eames family collection and shows the many facets of their life, work and travels. For the Eameses, and particularly Charles, photography was not merely a way to record things; it was a part of the process of design. Charles had an incredible eye for detail and this is evident in his photography.
The exhibition is created by the Eames Office, commissioned by Herman Miller International and made possible in Australia by Living Edge.
