Salone 2016: The Final Word

As we know, in the design world there’s no greater time to debut new products than at Salone del Mobile. Over an exciting week, thousands of exhibitors and visitors peruse the latest in design, and Italian design luminaries Lema, Fantini, Valcucine and Falper, are no exceptions.

With exciting ranges of new products to showcase, these design powerhouses continue to demonstrate their positions at the forefront of design.

Lema debuted their latest furniture pieces from Roberto Lazzeroni, Christopher Pillet and Piero Lissoni with graceful designs that echo the design notes of the 50s and 60s, but with a modern twist. Designed by Lema’s chief art director Piero Lissoni, Lema’s showroom at Salone showcased all of their latest offerings in an opulently styled setting that placed emphasis on the luxury home. Sleek lines and warm wood are staples in Lissoni and Pillet’s work, and their latest table designs debuted alongside classic Lema furniture pieces.

At the biennial Eurocucina kitchen exhibition, Valcucine created a wellness haven that resembled a garden to embody the idea of Man living in harmony with his surroundings, and presented the new interactive kitchen system, V-motion Kit, along with the new Gourmet System, both presented by Genius Loci.

These kitchen solutions are designed for the discerning customer who has an eye on the kitchen of the future. As part of their showing at Salone, the Valcucine showroom housed a master mosaic worker customising the front panels of Genius Loci kitchen drawers, demonstrating Valcucine’s dedication to both artisanal craftsmanship and technological innovation. They also welcomed the latest smart opening and closing systems, as well as colour options for the design enthusiast.

At the International Bathroom component of Salone, Falper reigned with the showcasing of the luxurious marble-carved finishes of the George collection, alongside new additions to the Quattro Zero series, and the EDGE collection. Exuding modern elegance, the showroom highlighted the adaptability of each collection in the contemporary home by creating a series of bathrooms with aesthetic personalities for the traditional, the minimalist, and the sophisticate.

Fantini unveiled myriad unique and versatile bathroom tapware and fixtures in keeping with their dedication to quality and individual design. From the traditional Venezia Murano glass handles to the transparent and colourful Nice/Now handles and knobs designed by Matteo Thun and Antonio Rodriguez, along with the sleek brushed metal of Naoto Fukasawa’s Finiture tapware collection, Fantini’s offerings add distinctive personality to the bathroom. Giulio Gianturco’s Thermae collection of taps and fittings were inspired by Gianturco’s trip to a spa park in Ischia which roused his curiousity in designing functional and aesthetic fittings for the thermal spa. With their core ethos centering on giving new forms to water, Fantini’s collection at Salone continues to push experimental boundaries and the creative stimuli of designers.

While the whirlwind week that is Salone del Mobile is now over for 2016, the design statements made by Italian design aficionados Lema, Valcucine, Falper, and Fantini herald a new wave of innovative and individual design in the home. In Australia, these beautiful offerings have found their home at Rogerseller.
