Design Shanghai 2015 provides quality platform for designers and brands entering China’s rapidly growing mark.
April 27th, 2015
Design Shanghai 2015 welcomed over 40,000 visitors to the four-day event, sponsored by Jaguar Land Rover, that included an exciting mix of never-seen-before designs from over 300 participating brands and galleries as well as engaging installations and a varied programme of events.
This year’s event celebrated design on a global and local scale providing a platform for over 30 Chinese designers and brands, both emerging and established, to exhibit alongside well-established global names such as Vitra, Foscarini, Driade, Seletti, Fritz Hansen, Moroso and Magis. Additionally, limited edition designs were showcased in the Collectible Design Hall featuring leading galleries from Europe, the US and the Asia Pacific region with a special focus on China.
The event attracted a quality audience of industry professionals across the design sector as well as the local Shanghai community, providing a wonderful opportunity for exposure and networking in China, in particular to those making their first-ever appearance, including names such as Richard Brendon, G&D Distribution, Method Studio, The Elliot Collection and many more.
In addition to the design halls, a range of events including a seminar programme filled with international design talents, launch events and parties occurred simultaneously across the four days, making it one of the must-see events in the international design calendar.
To mark the opening of Design Shanghai, an official ribbon cutting ceremony took place on Friday 27 March, with special guests including Lee Newton, CEO of Media 10; Mike Dynan, Media 10 Co-founder and Design Shanghai Show Director; Leyi Wang, General Secretary of Shanghai Promotion Centre for City of Design; Xiaoming Sun, General Manager of Shanghai Exhibition Centre; and Jian Zhao, Deputy Director of the Jing’An District Commission of Commerce.
