At work with Barber & Osgerby at Orgatec 2018

Step inside the studio of Brit design darlings Barber & Osgerby as the pair opens about the future of work, sharing new pieces that challenge the modern function of an office. This is a little taste of what’s to come at Orgatec 2018.

For many, work is a starring role in the movie of life, which makes Orgatec – a tradeshow dedicated to commercial furniture and innovation – a veritable hub of what’s to come.

One renowned industrial design studio that is not afraid to use design to challenge our conceptions of work is the UK-based studio Barber & Osgerby.

In a video by Vitra, you can take a look inside of the working office of Barber & Osgerby. Located in central London, the designers open up about the changing habits, and changing requirements of a modern office environment.

Through this line of thinking, the duo has designed a new piece of furniture that responds to these changing workplace cultures. Soft Work is a new modular seating system that takes inspiration from new working methods, residential softness and traditional public types of seating.

Technology has taken over our working (and personal) lives, enabling people to essentially work from anywhere. So it only follows that with this newfound flexibility can be liberated from our desks.
