The best and most innovative places in which we gather to eat and drink, stay and relax are showcased in the shortlist of The Social Space category at this year’s INDE.Awards.

Each of the 12 projects reflects its place in the landscape and the culture of the people and the designs ensure that originality is at the forefront of every concept. Sustainability is inherent in these shortlisted projects with initiatives such as water saving ideas, solar, the production of less waste, along with the use of local products or materials incorporated into the design, build and decoration.

As supporter of The Social Space category, Capral is also sustainably minded. As Australia’s largest manufacturer and distributor of aluminium profiles, Capral is a market leader in supply to fabricators and distributors. This is a business that understands that a fine product creates a better project and when it is sustainable as well, then the result is best practice on every level.

While The Social Space represents a variety of projects from hotels to cellar doors, bars, cafés, bistros, restaurants and even an outdoor gathering space on water, the continuum between them all is the outstanding resolution of a singular concept. There are no projects that imitate, each is perfectly at home in its location, designed for the city, region and country in which it resides. However, as polished and individual exemplars, they also comfortably sit on the global stage, such is the level of detail and design within these 12 extraordinary projects.

The shortlisted projects for The Social Space are,

Angsila Oyster Scaffolding Pavilion by Chat Architects with Angsila Oyster Scaffolding Studio at International Program in Design and Architecture (INDA), Chulalongkorn University, Thailand
