Photographers are to be celebrated and recognised at the 2023 INDE.Awards with two new categories specially tailored to those who live life through the lens.
January 27th, 2023
Two new categories have been included in the 2023 INDE.Awards and they are a celebration of the talent and expertise of those that make the visual front and centre in our lives – of course, this is the photographer. With The Photographer – Commercial and The Photographer – Residential, we showcase images of commercial and residential projects presented through the vision of a photographer. Unlike other programs, these two categories will require a suite of images, from five to 10, not just a single image, and through this a story of a project can be told without words.
Each of the two new and very special categories will be judged by experts in the art of photography, John Gollings AM and Tim Griffith, both legends in their professional lives as architecture and design photographers of note. Gollings and Griffith will be joined by Alice Blackwood, Editor of Indesign who will help adjudicate on The Photographer – Commercial and Aleesha Callahan, Editor of Habitus, who will help to determine the winner of The Photographer – Residential category. While Gollings and Griffith can review entries from a photographer’s viewpoint, Blackwood and Callahan have another perspective from years of assessing project images that are required to create a journey and showcase the best of an architect and designer’s work.
These new categories will also be supported by the Image Makers Association Australia, an organisation that assists professional and emerging photographers through education and industry connection. The Image Makers Association Australia was created to help protect and promote the rights of professional photographers in Australia but also celebrates the work of its membership.
These new categories will place the spotlight on the very important contribution that photographers make to the sphere of architecture and design. Afterall, where would we be without an image of a school, workplace, hospital or home that can visually describe a project? How can we understand architecture and design if we cannot see it?
We are excited to include these two new categories in the INDE.Awards and encourage all photographers from across the Indo-Pacific to enter The Photographer – Commercial and The Photographer – Residential to showcase your work, present your vision and celebrate your profession.
Whether you are an expert in your trade with years of experience or an up-and-coming talent, there is an opportunity to highlight the work that you do and gain exposure right across our incredible Indo-Pacific region.
