Design student, Anthony Manuatu, has won the Art on the Floor competition – a collaborative design competition and exhibition of contemporary rugs exclusively designed for Designer Rugs.
May 2nd, 2008
Eight budding designers from the International School of Colour & Design (iscd) were chosen to be part of the Art on the Floor competition and exhibition, held in conjunction with leading Australian rug manufacturer, Designer Rugs.
Sydney design student, Anthony Manuatu, has been given the title of winner.
Announced on Wednesday April 30, Anthony gets to keep the pure wool rug, that he designed himself, valued at approx $1,200 as part of the prize package.
Anthony’s winning entry entitled ‘Muck,’ was inspired by nature, using the simplicity of a palm leaf and two circles.
“Muck (meaning last minute) was simple, clean and quick to design. I just used my instincts and skills learned.” said Anthony.
“I am honored to win this award and look forward to hopefully creating more winning designs.”
The Art on the Floor exhibition will be open to the public until May 31, 2008 at iscd located Level 5, 99 Mount Street, North Sydney. Exhibition Hours are from Monday – Friday 10am – 6pm and Saturdays 10am – 4pm.
All finalists’ designs will be offered for sale as part of the Designer Rug range. From each of the rugs sold $100 will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
